Shirley Elmore, New Zion

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Elmore, conducted by the Rev. Oliver Davis, were held Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Howard Chapel AME Church of New Zion. Burial, directed by Pressley’s Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Ms. Elmore, 62, died Saturday, November 30, 2013. She was born May 18, 1951 in Clarendon County, New Zion Community, the daughter of the late James Elmore and Eula Mae Chandler Elmore. She was educated in the public school system of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Howard Chapel AME Church. Her employment included: farming, Baxter Textile Plant, Cades Hebron Apparel and caregiver. She was a seamstress and comedian at times. Three siblings, Willie, Larry and Eurealee Elmore, preceded her in death. Survivors are: four daughters, Sadie Elmore of Kingstree; Katina Randolph (Tyrone) of Lake City; Gayle Elmore of Cades; and Major Sharon Elmore of Warner Robins, Georgia; two sons, Sherman Elmore and Jonathan Elmore, both of Cades; two brothers, James Lewis Elmore (Lucille) of New Zion; and Michael Elmore of Kingstree; four sisters, Lois Ann Evans (Clinton) of Turbeville; Dorothy Mae Elmore of Lake City; Polly Evans of White Oak; and Juanita Miller (Charles) of New Zion; and 14 grandchildren.
