Funeral services for Mother Evelyna J. “Sis” Judge, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Brown, were held Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Pilgrim Baptist Church of Pineville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Mother Judge died Tuesday, November 19, 2013. She was born February 25, 1925, in Pineville, the daughter of the late April and Maybell Singleton. She attended public schools in Berkeley County. She was married to the late David Johnson. During her formative years, she attended Redeemer R. E. Church. She was married to the late Deacon Douglas R. Judge. She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir, on the Missionary Board and became one of the Mothers of The Church. Survivors are: three children, Juanita Clasp and Virginia Smalls (Richmond) of New York City; and Annie R. Milligan (Donald) of North Charleston; two stepchildren, Hattie P. Dixon of Bronx, New York; and Jeremiah Judge (Christina) of Basketville, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
