Performance - The University of South Carolina Chamber Orchestra is an elite auditioned group of talented graduate and undergraduate students who have a passion for collaborative music making. Chamber music performances are coached by the USC faculty members; however, it is the students who are the stars of the show. Many of these musicians play in orchestras across the state and also perform in the larger USC Symphony Orchestra. This is your opportunity to hear the performers of tomorrow. Parade - The Town of Kingstree will host its annual Christmas parade at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 13. The parade theme is “A Night Before Christmas.” The parade will feature local bands, dance groups, floats, and organizations. The Christmas Tree Lighting will take place immediately following the parade in Welch’s Park on North Academy Street. Candlelight Tour - A Candlelight Tour of Historic Lake City will be held Sunday, December 8, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., a holiday tour featuring Lake City’s most beautiful homes and architecture. Vernon/Leahs Loop communities are invited to attend an organizational meeting to form a Crime Watch for the area. Invited are citizens living on Hwy. 261 W., known as the Manning Hwy., starting at Hwy. 52 S. to the Clarendon County Line; roads that intercept Hwy. 261 W.; Mt. Vernon Rd., Easler Rd. from Coleman Rd. back up to Mt. Vernon Hwy. roads that are intercepting with Easler Rd. This includes the Leahs Loop Community and the roads within it. The organization needs additional block leaders, thus need the help of the communities to make this work. The meeting will be held Thursday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Educational Building at 132 Mt. Vernon Rd., Greeleyville. They need the participation of everyone for this community effort. The Williamsburg County Sheriff Department will be there to help them organize. Please plan to join them. This needs to be a community effort. Meeting - A county council meeting will be held November 19, at 6 p.m. at the public service administration building, 201 W. Main St., Kingstree. The purpose is to discuss the following: installment plan for citizens that pay taxes; and unoccupied house landfill fee. It is important that you attend this meeting if you have a concern for the high property taxes in this county. Children of Tomorrow will be having its seventh annual parade and toy giveaway, starting at 12 p.m. in Nesmith on Saturday, December 7. Her book From Farmer to FAME describes how a law-abiding person can become a victim of bad advice in the face of an unforgiving legal system, followed by an encouraging story of recovery.
