Clayton Smalls, Sr., New Zion

Funeral services for Clayton Smalls, Sr., conducted by the Rev. Oliver Davis, were held Friday, November 8, 2013, at Howard Chapel AME Church of New Zion. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Howard Chapel AME Church Cemetery of New Zion. Mr. Smalls died Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was born June 12, 1960, in Clarendon County, the son of the late Bozard Smalls and Queen Elizabeth Harrison Smalls Lloyd. He attended school in Clarendon County. He was married to the late Ora Lee Brown Smalls. Three brothers, Bozard Smalls, Jr., Jimmy Jerome Lloyd, and James Albert Lloyd, preceded him in death. Survivors are: three children, Necolia James of Sumter; Clayton Smalls, Jr. and Darrel Brown, both of New Zion; four sisters, Mary Evan (Hugh) of New Zion; Patricia Lloyd of Turbeville; Raeford Lloyd of Alcolu; and Shanrella Lloyd of New Zion; three brothers, Robert Lloyd and Marvin Lloyd, both of Alcolu; and Stacey Lloyd of Turbeville; his mother in-law, George Retta Brown; his adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Finley Reid of Summerton; and nine grandchildren.
