Ashton K. McDonald, 82, of Leesburg, Florida, died Friday, October 18, 2013. A funeral service was held Monday, October 21, 2013, at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home of Tavares, Florida. Burial, directed by Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, followed at Lakeside Memory Gardens of Eustis, Florida. Mr. McDonald was born January 8, 1931, in Lake City, the son of the late Junius and Gretchen Floyd McDonald of Kingstree. He moved to Central Florida in 1977 from Massachusetts. He owned and operated a collision shop, was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Moose. He worked at Disneyland until his retirement. His wife, Geneva McDonald, a daughter, Karen McDonald, and two brothers, William McDonald and J.W. McDonald, preceded him in death. Survivors are: three sons, Steve McDonald of Leesburg, Florida; Al McDonald of Apopka, Florida; and Joe McDonald of Altamonte Springs, Florida; one daughter, Patsy Lentz of Leesburg, Florida; three brothers, Kester McDonald of Kingstree; Thomas Mc Donald of Leesburg, Florida; and Marshall McDonald (Ann) of New Zion; five sisters, Yvonne M. Broach, Janice M. Snipes, Ila M. Cole (Marion), Judy M. Hall (Gene), all of Kingstree; and Libby M. Floyd (John L.) of Lake City; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
