A man accused of kidnapping two women was apprehended in Lane after a day-long search.

Telly Darnell McClam, 36, of St. Stephen, is accused of kidnapping a Berkeley County woman and her 17-year-old daughter on the morning of October 28. Reports say McClam abducted the women from two separate locations.

According to officials, McClam was being pursued by Berkeley County deputies when they spotted him after a visit to a relative. He later abandoned the vehicle with the victims inside.

Multiple agencies would ultimately converge on the area where McClam was apprehended in Lane about five miles from where the initial search began. When deputies located McClam he was armed with a handgun; however, officials say he did not resist arrest. McClam was transported to Berkeley County where he has active warrants for kidnapping. McClam has a criminal past that includes a 1999 conviction for second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was released from prison in March 2012 and is a registered sex offender. According to Williamsburg County Sheriff Michael Johnson, warrants have been issued in Williamsburg County for 2 counts of kidnapping.
