Traffic Safety Checkpoints - The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of November .

Seniors Patrol - The Kingstree Police Depart-ment is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford.  Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number, and address.

 

Memory Dish - Hospice Care of South Caro-lina's Grief Support Group, known as the "Memory Dish" is held the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical Col-lege (Administrative Office Building Conference Room). The Memory Dish is conducted by Chaplain Willis Broughton. The contact number for this group is (843) 213-8507.

Senior Bingo - The senior citizens of Lane invite any senior citizen to join them every first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

 

Weight Watchers - Weight Watchers 2012 meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays at 5 p.m.

 

Screenings - Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Ser-vices, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, (843) 355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.

 

Meeting - The Housing Authority of Kingstree will meet every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 1022 Lexington Ave., Kingstree.

 

Showcase - The second annual “A Beautiful Black Christmas”Will be held from November 5 to December 31. A showcase of black angels, Santas, nutcrackers, nativity scenes and Christmas trees decorated with black ornaments from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at C. Williams Rush Gallery Of African-American Arts & Culture, 200 Hampton Avenue, Kingstree. Please call for group and other appointment times, (803) 397-1859 school groups are encouraged to attend all of the educational exhibits.

 

Meeting - Waccamaw Area Family Caregiver support meeting will be held December 5, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 1230 Highmarket St., Georgetown. Lunch is provided, no fee.

Christmas Parade - The Town of Kingstree will host its annual Christmas Parade on Friday, December 7, at 6 p.m. Participants are asked to contact the Kingstree Town Hall, Frank H. McGill Municipal Complex located at 401 N. Longstreet St., Kingstree or you may call (843) 355-7484 for entry, registration, and additional information no later than Wednesday, November 18. Entry is free.Line up will begin at 5 p.m. at the Kingstree Public Library located on Jackson Street. The parade will end at the Anderson Bank located on E. Main Street. The lighting of the Christmas tree will commence following the parade at Welch’s Park Downtown on E. Main Street. There will be a special guest for the kids.

 

Closings - Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. Administrative Office located at 1261 Highway 501 East, Suite B, Conway and its programs, head start, early head start, weatherization, and community services for Horry, Georgetown, and Williams-burg counties will be closed on  Thanksgiving, November 22 and 23.

 

Santa Pictures - Thursday, December 13, the Williamsburg County Library is hosting an event for children ages zero to 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Joe the Balloon Dude and Santa Claus will come and entertain the kids. There will be special balloons and free pictures with Santa for the parents!

 

Season of Giving - It’s that time of year again to put a smile on the face of a child. This year, Teachings From the Ark, Inc. (The Ark), Mary Magdeline Outreach Center and The Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Annual Toy Drive have drop off boxes for unwrapped new toys. Boxes are located at the following locations: Anderson Brothers Bank, 500 E. Main Street, Kingstree; Georgetown Kraft Credit Union, 488 Nelson Blvd., Kingstree; Food Lion, 15 N. Williamsburg County Hwy., Kingstree; and United Finance Company, 115 Mill St., Kingstree. Monetary donation cans are also located at United Finance, Georgetown Kraft Credit Union, Food Lion, and Barr Law, LLC, 108 N. Academy St., Kingstree. With your help this year, The Ark can bless the lives of many children in the surrounding area by simply placing a smile on their faces, with the help of your donations. Volunteers Needed - Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the reduction of rape, family violence and child abuse and to the needs of its victims. Pee Dee Coalition needs your support as a volunteer. Volunteers make a direct impact in the lives of victims.  Whether it is holding someone’s hand at the hospital or organizing a pantry at the shelter, Pee Dee Coalition has many different programs that cover a variety of interests. The next training class is scheduled for December 1, December 8, December 11, and December 15, from 9 am. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 11, at the Kingstree Town Hall at 401 North Longstreet St., Kingstree. Meeting - Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its monthly board of directors meeting on Wednesday, November 28, at 3:30 p.m.   The meeting will be held at the Kingstree Wellness Center at 912  4th Avenue, Kingstree.  Please call (843) 354-5496 with any questions.

 

Meeting - Williamsburg County DSN Board will be having their monthly board meeting on Wednesday, November 21, at 4 p.m. at Williamsburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, 61 Greenlee Street, Kingstree.

 

Meeting - The Tomlinson Alumni, Inc. of Kingstree will hold its annual meeting on Monday, November 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Recreation Center, Thurgood Marshall Hwy. 527 E., Kingstree. The main agenda item will be the election of officers for the next term. All graduates, attendees and friends of Tomlinson High School are invited to attend. Christmas Cantata - Mount Zion United Methodist Church Music Department and Fine Arts Ministry presents its fifth annual Evening Christmas Cantata, Silent Night! Holy Night! on Sunday, November 25, at 5:30 p.m. gathering and special music and 6 p.m. Cantata. The Rev. J. Jeannette´ Cooper is the pastor and Kendrick Rashond Huggins is the Minister of Music/Organist.

 

Meeting - Williamsburg Regional Boys to Men Club, Inc. (with Girls to Women) will have a community garden meeting on Monday, November 26, at the W. R. Boys to Men Club, Inc. office on 121 North Longstreet Street in Kingstree (across from the KFC- Kentucky Fried Chicken). Christmas Parade - Trio Community Action Organization will celebrate their annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. starting at St. John AME Church on the Trio Road and ending at the local fire station. Trio Community Action Organization is asking for your assistance, and requesting your participation in the parade. The parade line-up time is 9 a.m., and the registration is free.

There will be a designated area in Trio for anyone that would like to set-up a vendor booth. The fee for vendors is $10 per space. You can make checks payable to: Trio Community Action Organization and send to 412 Trio Road, Andrews, SC 29510 and/or you can pay on the day of the event. Performance - Williamsburg County Magnet School of the Arts will present its holiday performance on December 18, at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

 

Applications - Applications for admission to Williamsburg County Magnet School of the Arts for 2013-2014 will be available November 26, in the school office and online.

 

Meeting - The Williamsburg County Library Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, November 27, at 6 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library at 215 North Jackson Street, Kingstree.
