Seniors Patrol - The Kingstree Police Depart-ment is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Memory Dish - Hospice Care of South Caro-lina's Grief Support Group, known as the "Memory Dish" is held the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical Col-lege (Administrative Office Building Conference Room). Parade - The Andrews Veterans Association (AVA) is proud to announce a Veterans Day Parade and service will be held in Andrews on Saturday, November 3, at 1 p.m., with a service to follow at 3 p.m. The parade will be held on Main Street and the service will be held inside the local National Guard Armory.

Workshop - Williamsburg County is sponsoring a small business workshop on “The Fundamentals” (success and failure and no grants and limited resources) Thursday, October 25, from 6 p.m. til 9 p.m. in the Alex Chatman Complex Courtroom, 147 W. Book Presentation - The Friends of Williamsburg County Library will be hosting Sherman Carmichael, on Thursday, October 25 at 6 p.m. Sherman Carmichael is a Johnsonville native, and Williamsburg County Library is pleased to have him return for a presentation of his new book, Legends and Lore of South Carolina.  Sherman researched the stories in this book for over a year. Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing.

His first book, Forgotten Tales of South Carolina, was published 2011. South Carolina residents know that around every corner there’s another legend. Join them for an evening of thrilling and chilling tales. The public in invited and there is no charge.

 

Know the Facts - One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. South Carolina now ranks second in the nation for the number of women murdered by men. Service - Tidelands Community Hospice will hold its annual Service of Remembrance & Hope, Thursday,  October 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church fellowship hall courtyard, 411 N. Academy St., Kingstree. These services are a tribute to the hospice patients who died during the past year, as well as others in the community who have died. Families and friends of deceased loved ones are invited to join the hospice staff and volunteers in honoring their memory. This event, open to all members of the public, is a celebration of life. The service will last about half an hour. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Casual attire is recommended.

 

Pig Pickin’ Parade - The Pig Pickin’ Parade will be held on Saturday, October 20,  at 10 a.m. The lineup will begin  at 9 a.m. Entry is opened to the public. There is no charge for entry; however, an entry form is required. The Felician Sisters of Pennsylvania will be the grand marshall. Color guard will be provided by Kingstree High School JROTC Unit.

Other entries will include and will not be limited to local schools and organizations, areas churches, local elected officials, candidates vying for public offices, area businesses, area police and fire departments, day cares, non-profit organizations, the South Carolina Forestry Commission, military units, sport teams, bands, and horses.

The parade will also feature the emphasis on “texting and driving.”
