WILLIAMS THOMAS, KINGSTREE

William Herman “Billy” Thomas, 75, husband of Connie Elliott Thomas, died Friday, September 21, 2012, at his residence.

Graveside funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Dr. David Dinkins, were held Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas was born September 3, 1937, in Greeleyville, a son of the late John William and Lillian Bell Roberts Thomas. He was a graduate of Greeleyville High School, attended business school in Florence, was a D.J. for the local Kingstree radio station WDKD, and retired from Farmers Telephone Co-Op. He was a member of the Kingstree Lion’s Club, Optimist Club, Jaycees, was a Shriner, and a volunteer for The Boy Scouts of America. He was a recipient of The Kingstree Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the Year Award and was a member of Kingstree First Baptist Church. Two brothers, John Bryant “Bud” Thomas (Sarah Ann) and Robert Lamar Thomas (Patsy), and a sister Miriam Gilbert Thomas, preceded him in death. Survivors, in addition to his wife of Kingstree, are: one sister, Janice T. Spann (Wilbur) of Sumter; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Kingstree First Baptist Church Family Life Center, PO Box 608, Kingstree, SC 29556.
