Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma V. “Thelma Lou” Singletary, conducted by Bishop Odell Fulton and Elder Dr. David Anderson, were held Friday, October 5, 2012, at Sandridge Believers Holiness Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Singletary Cemetery of Kingstree. Mrs. Singletary died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at her residence in Kingstree. She was born August 18, 1933, a daughter of the late Rev. Jeremiah and Lettie Vernon, formerly of Andrews. She was a graduate of Tomlinson High School. She was a member of Sandridge Holiness Church, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir, former president of the Sandridge Holiness Church Usher Board, and a former member of the Eastern Star Electra Chapter # 22. Warsaw/Oxford Manufacturing and B.C. Moore’s employed her. She was married to the late Christopher Singletary. An adopted daughter, Tanishia Lashawn Singletary, preceded her in death. Five siblings, Mary Scott, Selema Wilson, Curlee Fulton, Collie Van Dicker, and Jerry Vernon, Jr., preceded her in death. Survivors are: three daughters, Delores S. Jones (John) of Charleston; Joan S. Allen of Kingstree; and Quintella Adams (Joseph) of Whiteville, North Carolina; one son, Ronald Singletary (Claudia) of Kingstree; a granddaughter she reared as her own, Mataisha Jones; six siblings, Leroy Neal Vernon of Andrews; Martha Wilson of Waldo, Florida; Rivan Pressley, Carlena Whiteside and Della Pressley, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
