Funeral services for Sarah Bell “Bell” Oliver, conducted by the Rev. John Taylor, were held Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Mt. Zion AME Church of Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery of Greeleyville. Ms. Oliver died Friday, September 14, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Hospital of Sumter. She was born February 1, 1954, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Mattie Lee Oliver and the late Frank Oliver, Sr. She graduated from C.E. Murray High School in 1975. She furthered her education by receiving a double Associate’s Degree from Williamsburg Technical College. She was employed by J.C. Penney. She was a volunteer with the Department of Juvenile Justice of Kingstree. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, where she was president of the Combined Choir for many years, the Missionary President, and a member of the Trustee Board. A brother, Louis Oliver, preceded her in death.

Survivors, in addition to her mother of the home, are: one son, Terry Oliver of Newport News, Virginia; one daughter, Ashley Oliver of the home; three brothers, Frank Oliver (Juliet) of Goose Creek; Sam Oliver (Cynthia) of Salters; and Jessie Oliver of Troy, New York; three sisters, Sadie Rhodes of Troy, New York; Leslie Scott of Salters; and Pearly Toomer (Gary) of Pineville; two Godchildren, Coalya and Xavier Capers; one daughter she reared as her own, Tierra Spann; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Stacey Montgomery, Kelvin Moore, Dewayne Patrick, Calvin Greene, Ron Nelson, and Sam York.
