PETER PRESSLEY, KINGSTREE

Funeral services for Peter James Pressley, conducted by the Rev. Anna G. Miller, were held Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Friendship United Methodist Church of Nesmith. Burial, directed by Pressley’s Funeral Home, followed at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Pressley died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Georgetown. He was born June 24, 1934, in Hemingway, a son of the late Belin and Jannie Mae Pressley. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg and Florence counties. After graduating from Wilson High School in Florence, he served two years in the United States Armed Forces as a military police. He relocated to New York then to Patterson, New Jersey, where he worked as a supervisor at Crest Foam in Moonachie, New Jersey for 11 years. He returned home in 1991.  In 1992, he received his cosmetology license from Chris Logan. He operated his barbershop until his health began to fail. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he served on the Building Committee, FUMC Mission Committee, PPR Committee, and sang on the Male Choir. He was married to the late Hattie Louise Nesmith Pressley. Survivors are: his children, Stefan Pressley (Darlene) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; Kenneth Ronald Pressley of Jacksonville, Florida; and Gina Pressley of Patterson, New Jersey; his siblings, Booker T. Pressley (Deloris) and Fannie Nesmith of Nesmith; Roscoe Pressley (Cynthia), Gloria Burroughs, and Tinnell Pressley (Lorine) of Hemingway; and Ralph Pressley (Geneva) of Miami, Florida; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
