[/if ImageKingstree] BOBBIE ROYSER – FORT WALTON BEACH, FL
Bobbie Jean Royster, age 76, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, died Sunday, May 24, 2009. Funeral services and burial were held Thursday, May 28, 2009.  Burial was at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Mrs. Royster was born October 11, 1932, in York, a daughter of the late Neville and Agnes Currence.  She was Methodist by faith. Survivors are: her husband, Claude Royster, Jr.; one son, Claude (Skip) Royster, lll (Brenda) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; one daughter, Amanda Royster-Gillespie (Gary) of Fort Walton Beach; two brothers, Buck Currence (Gloria) and Ray Currence; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

KENNETH WILSON - SALTERS

Funeral services for Kenneth Oneal “Kenny” Wilson, conducted by the Rev. James Carraway, were held Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Crossroad Cemetery in Salters. Mr. Wilson, 52, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in Georgetown County. He was born April 19, 1957, in Williamsburg County, a son of Robert Wilson, Jr. and Lerline Virginia Epps Wilson. He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. He was a 1975 graduate of Kingstree Senior High School in Kingstree and received a B.A. degree in political science from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. He was a United States veteran. He was married to  Karla Crisanti. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Salters, are: one daughter, Victoria Crisanti (Kevin Artis) of Landstuhl, Germany; five sisters, Angela Moore (Michael) of Rock Hill; Ellen McLeod (John) of Vass, North Carolina; Frances Dalton of Lumberton, North Carolina; Judith Battle (Richard) of Fuquay-Varnia, North Carolina; and Teresa Wilson of Wilmington, North Carolina; and one grandson.

JACQUELINE GILLIARD - CADES

Funeral services for Jacqueline “Jack” Fulton Gilliard , conducted by Pastor D. A. Gilliard, were held Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Community Temple Church in Cades. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree. Mrs. Gilliard, 76, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born June 4, 1932, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Winters and Susannah Price Fulton. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Community Temple Church in Cades, where she was an usher and Mother of the Church. She was employed by the Williamsburg County System for over 32 years as a cook. She retired in 1994. Survivors are: her husband, Fred Gilliard of Shelby, North Carolina; four sons, Freddie Fulton (Dorothy) of Kingstree; Kenneth Gilliard (Betty) and William B. Gilliard (Shannon), both of Eustis, Florida; and Pastor D. A. Gilliard (Geraldine) of Cades; three daughters, Cheryl Burgess (Elder Emanuel) of Lake City; Linda Collins (Herbert) and Angela R. Gilliard, both of Cades; one brother, Harris Fulton (Anna Ruth) of Cades; her twin sister, Josephine Brand of Kingstree; 33 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

GENE TISDALE - KINGSTREE
Gene Owens Tisdale, 88, widow of Walter Clyde Tisdale, Sr., died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Funeral services were held Sunday May 31, 2009 at Central Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Tisdale Cemetery. Mrs. Tisdale was born February 11, 1921 in Williamsburg County, a daughter of John Albert and Nora Patrick Owens. She graduated from Indiantown High School, was employed at B.C. Moore’s Department Store, was a nursing assistant for several physicians in Kingstree, and more recently was the bookkeeper for Ideal Comfort Systems. Mrs. Tisdale was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a choir member, a member of the Women of the Church, and assisted with the youth activities of the church.

Surviving are: two sons, Walter Clyde Tisdale, Jr. (Sybil) and Thomas Michael “Mike” Tisdale (Marcena), both of Kingstree; one brother, Roger Owens of Kingstree; two sisters, Vera Epps of Nesmith and Gail Charles of Columbia; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. DOROTHY WARING - LANE
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Queen Evans Peguese Waring, conducted by the Rev. Harriet Massengill, were held Sunday, May 24, 2009 at New Beginning Church of Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at New Beginning Church Cemetery. Mrs. Waring died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Kingstree Nursing Facility. She was born March 14, 1932, in Lane, a daughter of the late Nicholas, Sr. and Christina Bynum Evans. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She furthered her education at Roper Hospital Nursing School and worked in the medical field as a nurse for many years. She was a member of New Beginning Christian Church of Lane. She was married to the late Raymond Peguese. She was preceded in death by one daughter Sonya Jo Peguese Ravenell. Survivors are: one son, Otis Delane Peguese (Alice) of the home; two brothers, Kenneth Evans (Delbra Ann) of Lane; and Louis Evans (Ida) of Clearwater, Florida; five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Singletary and Mrs. Rovana Joyce (Frank) Kendrick, both of Clearwater, Florida; Mrs. Virginia Miller and Mrs. Roberta Nesmith, both of Springfield, Massachusetts; and Mrs. Mary Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida.

WILLIE MONTGOMERY – GREENSBORO, NC
A memorial services for Deacon Willie Burnease Montgomery, conducted by Bishop Horace Baker and Pastor Kelvin Shouse, was held Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Fruit of the Spirit Holiness Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Funeral services for Deacon Montgomery, conducted by the Rev. Geneva Smalls and Pastor Donnell Peterson, were held May 29, 2009 at St. Mark FBH of Salters. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Bennett Family Cemetery. Deacon Montgomery died Friday, May 22, 2009. He was born June 20, 1925, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Willie M. Montgomery and Delphine Elizabeth “Sissy” Lawrence Montgomery. He was preceded in death by two still born children, Deidra Montgomery and Ryan O’Neal Montgomery. He attended boarding school in Greenville. He later attended and graduated from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. After college, he served in the Army, he was honorably discharged from the service when his mother died, and returned home to help. He taught for Williamsburg County School System. He moved to Greensboro, North Carolina in the 1950s and became employed with Bonitz Insulation Company, other employers were Winston Mutual Life Insurance Co. and AMP, Inc. (presently known as Tyco) where he retired at 65. He was a loyal part-time employee of The News & Records in Greensboro and worked there until the first week of May 2009. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church of America, Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina for over 40 years. Survivors are: his wife, Willie Mae Bennett Montgomery; three sons, Alonza D. Montgomery of Durham, North Carolina; Aubrey Montgomery and Bertram O. Montgomery of Greensboro, North Carolina; three daughters, Modestine E. Montgomery, Funda Montgomery Mills and Alexis R. Bennett of Greensboro; one spiritual daughter, Angela Bingham Lennon of Greensboro; one brother in Christ, Deacon Tommy L. Wright, Sr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ELIZABETH BRUNSON – MONCKS CORNER

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Miller Wallace Brunson were held Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moncks Corner, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brunson died Saturday, May 23, 2009. She was born October 9, 1926, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Hezekiah and Statia Miller.

She was educated in Williamsburg County and married to the late Richard Wallace. After the death of her first husband, she married James Brunson who also preceded her in death. She dedicated her life and became one of Jehovah’s witnesses and was baptized at the International Convention of Jehovah Witnesses. She later moved from New York to Moncks Corner and was there when the Moncks Corner Congregation was first established. She was preceded in death by her son, Elijah and one step-son Joseph.
Survivors are: one son, Richard (Eva); three step-children, Fannie Brunson of Lane; James Brunson, Jr. of Philadelphia; Jerry Brunson (Jan) of New Jersey; two sisters, Vallie Gallishaw of Lane; and Lucille Williams of Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and eight step-grandchildren.

MARION McCULLOUGH - SALTERS
Funeral services for Marion McCullough, conducted by the Rev. Thurmond Williams, were held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Jerusalem Cemetery.
Ms. McCullough died Saturday, May 23, 2009. She was born March 15, 1912, a daughter of the late Israel McCullough and Lillie Perry McCullough. She attended school in Williamsburg County. She was a former member of Bishop Bonner’s church in New York and a missionary for Refuge Mission. Survivors are: three nieces, Elizabeth McCullough of New York, New York; Jannie Margaret Swinton of Clearwater, Florida; and Ester McCullough of Rochester, New York; and four nephews, Andrew McCullough and Truman McCullough, both of Rochester, New York; Frederick McCullough, Jr. of Kingstree; and Raeford McCullough (Queen) of Salters; and a best friend who was like a daughter, Mrs. Betty Bradley of Salters.
