Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lee “Mommy” Kennedy, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Brown, were held Monday, February 18, 2013, at Pine Grove AME Church. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Pine Grove AME Churchyard Cemetery of Manning. Mrs. Kennedy died Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Lenox Hill Hospital of New York, New York. She was born October 22, 1933, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Nabor Sabb and Mamie Mouzon Sabb. Five siblings, one daughter, and one son, preceded her in death. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Billy Kennedy. Survivors are: two daughters: Sadie Lesaine of Greeleyville; and Sarah Kennedy of Brooklyn, New York; two sons, Billy Kennedy, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; and Joe Sabb of Richmond, Virginia; one sister, Susie Mae Jackson of Long Island, New York; three grandchildren whom she raised, Tressa Kennedy (Aubrey) and Tarlisa Lesaine, both of Brooklyn, New York; and Wayne Lesaine (Janice) of Severn, Maryland; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great –grandchildren.
