Funeral services for Mackrey Brown, conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Shuler, were held Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Bethesda United Methodist Church of Lake City. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree.
Mr. Brown, 89, died Satur-day, February 2, 2013, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 17, 1923, in Williams-burg County, a son of the late William Barr and Minnie Brown Barr. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County by attending Cooper’s Academy and graduating from Tomlinson High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from South Carolina State University. He was a lifelong member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the United Metho-dist Men, Finance Committee, and a former Sunday schoolteacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was em-ployed by Cyrus Drain Elem-entary School, Cades-Hebron Elementary and High School and Williamsburg-Blakely High School and worked as a teacher and a principal until his retirement. He was married to the late Mrs. Audrey Loretta McFadden Brown.
Survivors are: one daughter, Dentera Brown of Kingstree; and a host of nieces and nephews.
