LOIS GOURDIN, KINGSTREE

Lois Baker Gourdin, 94, wife of Peter Gaillard Gourdin, Jr., died Friday, February 8, 2013, in Mt. Pleasant. Family funeral services were held Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Williamsburg Cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Gourdin was born June 30, 1918, in Mt. Croghan in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Walter Worth Baker and Mary Hendrick Baker. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and attended graduate school at the University of SC. She retired after 30 years as a schoolteacher. Three sisters, Martha B. Coleman, Evelyn Baker, and Marion B. Smith, and an infant son, Peter G. Gourdin, V, preceded her in death. Survivors, in addition to her husband, are: one son, Dr. Theodore Gaillard Gourdin (Elizabeth) of Charleston; one daughter, Gail Gourdin Evans (Marion) of Kingstree; and one brother, Roger Baker of Edgefield. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
