Joseph Daniel “J.D.” Britton, Sr., 80, husband of Margaret Daniels Britton, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, in Kingstree as a result of an accident. Funeral services were held Friday, October 5, 2012, at Union Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mr. Britton was born October 18, 1931, in Lane, a son of the late Joseph Sylvanus and Alice Bryant Britton. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and served in the US Army in the 11th Airborne Division, Medical Battalion. He was a sales representative with McGill Distributors for over 60 years.
He was a member and officer of Palmetto Cruisers Car Club, a Mason, and a member of the American Legion Post 8. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. Survivors, in addition to his wife of Kingstree, are: one daughter, Allison B. Inman (Marty) of Kingstree; one son, Jody Britton (Lisa) of Kingstree; three sisters, Edna David George) of Salters; and Joan Street (Joe) and Betty Burgess, both of Kingstree; and four grandchildren.
