Funeral services for Jack “Pumpie” Myers, Jr., conducted by the Rev. Kay Adams Best, were held Friday, February 8, 2013, at Elijah United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Elijah United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery of Kingstree.
Mr. Myers died Saturday, February 2, 2013. He was born November 18, 1953, the son of Jack Myers, Sr. and the late Mrs. Flossie Fulton Myers. He grew up in Williamsburg County, and attended Williamsburg County Public Schools. He graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 1971 and he attended Horry Georgetown Technical College, where he received a degree in data processing. He was employed with Wellman Industries of Johnsonville; Colonial Rubber of Kingstree for 23 years; and PRM of Johnsonville for eight years. He was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church, where he served as President of the United Methodist Men for many years, President of the Chancellor Choir and Male Chorus for many years, Board of Trustees, Pastor Parish Relation Committee Chairperson and many other positions at Elijah. He was a member of Ever Ready Masonic Lodge #431. Survivors, in addition to his father of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Hattie Bell Myers of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Monique Williams (Andre) and Lakeisha Myers, both of Kingstree; and Mrs. Siberia Wilson (Roderick) of Hartsville; two sons, Sherwin Myers of Columbia; and Jezreel Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Mrs. Deloris Brooks (Jerome) of Florence; one brother, John Rainey Myers of Kingstree; his grandfather, Johnny Wallace of Kingstree; and six grandchildren.
