Ellis Ivy Reeves, 88, of Reevesville, widower of Florence Davenport Reeves, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Colleton Medical Center of Walterboro. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Scott Cannon, the Rev. Joey Branch and Chaplain Walter T. Doyle, were held Friday, November 23, 2012, at Reevesville Baptist Church. Burial with Masonic services and military honors, followed at the Reeves-Bryant Cemetery, directed by Bryant Funeral Home.
Mr. Reeves was born July 14, 1924, in Reevesville, a son of the late John Calhoun and Ida Mae Dukes Reeves. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired maintenance supervisor for the Dorchester County School Bus Shop and a farmer.
He was a member of Reevesville Baptist Church and Harmony Lodge # 61 AFM. A sister, Johnnie Mae Reeves, and a son-in-law, Stevie Murray, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: two daughters, Jackie Collier (Tom) Kingstree, and Cathi Reeves Murray of St. George; two brothers, J.C. Reeves, Jr. (Peggy) and Doug Reeves (Anne), both of Reevesville; one sister, Druesilla Reeves Linet of Summerville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jeff Reeves, Greg Reeves, Kevin Reeves, Len Reeves, Ralph Proctor, and Michael O’Cain. Memorials may be made to Reevesville Baptist Church, P.O.
