Funeral services for Dan “Pop” Dukes, conducted by the Rev. James C. Lane, were held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery of Kingstree. Mr. Dukes died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Williams-burg Regional Hospital of Kingstree. He was born Nove-mber 18, 1920, in Kingstree, the son of the late Arthur Dukes and Jane Scott Dukes. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Kings-tree. He was educated in the Williamsburg County Public Schools. He was a lifelong farmer. He was married to the late Ethel McClary Dukes. A son, Curtis Dukes, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his children, Nathaniel Dukes (Minnie), Richard Dukes (Queen), and Emma J. Barr (Charlie), all of Kingstree; Daniel Dukes of Rochester, New York; Charles Dukes of New Port, Rhode Island; and Gertie L. Segars (the Rev. Eugene) of Hemp-stead, New York; three raised as his own, Eunice Gamble and Laura Brown, both of Orlando, Florida; and Willie Brown of New York, New York; and 20 grandchildren.
