Funeral services for Annie Margaret “Misses” Miller, conducted by the Rev. W.C. Ervin, III, were held Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Saint Phillip African Methodist Episcopal Church of Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Phillip AME Church Memorial Garden of Salters. Ms. Miller died Friday, April 20, 2012, at Heartland of Columbia Rehab and Nursing Facility. She was born June 9, 1923, the daughter of the late Rev. Huley and Mrs. Martharine Lawson Miller. She graduated from Howard High School of Georgetown. She later attended Allen University of Columbia and Morris College of Sumter. For a period of time she served as a substitute teacher in Williamsburg County. As a member of St. Phillip AME Church, she served as a Class Leader, a choir member and an Usher. After moving to Columbia, she attended Brown Chapel AME Church and sang with the Jubilee Choir. She was a member of Lily White Chapter #349 Order of Eastern Star for 50 years. Her stepmother, Mrs. Nettie P. Miller Smith, six brothers, and one sister, preceded her in death. Survivors are: three brothers, the Rev. Clifton Miller of Charleston; the Rev. O’Neal Miller of Columbia; and the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Miller (Thelma) of Beaufort; and one sister, Mary “Bobbie” Hedgepath of Laurel, Mississippi.
