Georgetown deputies are looking for Jazwon Gamble, 28, of Salters in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex that left another Salters man dead.

On Wednesday, April 17 around 10 p.m., Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department responded to shots fired at Arbor Place Apartments on N. Beech Ave.  When they arrived, they found Jamar Edward McClary, 21, had been injured by gunfire.  He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed Tyrese Epps was visiting a female resident of Arbor Place Apartments when a former boyfriend, Jamar Edward McClary, came to her residence. Epps told investigators there was a confrontation between the two men during which McClary reached for his firearm and threatened Epps.  Epps drew his own firearm and shot first.

Investigators say Gamble was waiting downstairs and witnessed the incident between Epps and McClary. He then fired shots into the apartment.

Investigators reviewed the facts of the case and surveillance footage from the apartment complex and spoke with the Deputy Solicitor of the 15th Judicial District.  It was determined that the shooting fell under the “Stand Your Ground” law. No charges will be filed against Epps.  Gamble is facing attempted murder charges.

The investigation is still ongoing. Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office thanks members of the community who have come forward in this incident. If anyone else has information they should call (843) 546-5102.
