Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office has upgraded charges against Craig Dwayne Tucker, 32, of Hemingway to Murder after receiving results of the autopsy from a shooting that took place in July, 2023.
Deputies responded to a shooting involving Tucker and a victim near the intersection of State Highway 41/51 and Harmon Street in Hemingway on July 14, 2023. When they arrived the victim, who had sustained several gunshot wounds, had been transported to the local hospital. A warrant states the victim was on a ventilator for several weeks after the shooting. On December 2, 2023, the victim died, and an autopsy was ordered.
Tucker was arrested on December 13, 2023 and charged with Attempted Murder. He was taken to Williamsburg County Detention Center.
Law enforcement received the final autopsy on April 17, 2024. The autopsy revealed the victim died from injuries stemming from the shooting. The cause of death deemed homicide. Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office Investigators obtained a warrant for Tucker and charged him with Murder. The investigation is ongoing.
